Obama has job creation all right! To have prison inmates build solar panels in prison and they GET PAID! How do the homeless like that one? Prisoners get a bed- food- now jobs! WOW! I guess the homeless can break the law- go to prison to get work now! Should we pat Obama on the back?

They probably don’t like it. But instead of whining about it, they should go try to do something to make some money, or otherwise get assistance where available. And they should vote, if they can, against him and his party in 2010 and 2012.

I’m not upset about it. But they shouldn’t get paid, any revenue should be used to offset their incarceration.

Prisons cost a lot of taxpayer money. Why not have the inmate population produce something to offset the cost? Paying someone a little for their work gives them an interest in the outcomes, in other words, money is a motivator for productivity and quality if distributed for the right reasons. When people work it grows the economic wealth that’s available to us all. Whether one works inside a prison or out is irrelevent.

It’s amazing how these liberals think. Prisoners should work without pay OR have to actually pay taxes, something they currently don’t do. The real kicker is that these solar panel making jobs that these prisoners now have, were jobs of law abiding citizens but were laid off because of the economy. So instead of giving the jobs back to the law abiding citizens, they were given to the prisoners for cheaper pay.

Personally, I think it is a good idea that they have to actually do some work, instead of just sit around, eat, sleep, watch TV and work out on the taxpayer’s dollar. We the taxpayers spend many thousands of dollars on the care and feeding of each person who is in prison. If they can earn some of that by working, I’m all for it. I don’t think that they should work for personal gain; I think whatever money is earned should go to the state or federal government or whoever’s prison they are in.
Work for prisoners is not a new idea. Remember the chain gangs of prisoners working on roads in the past?Also in some states, prisoners used to make license plates and various other things that the state needed. Prisons could also have a farm and grow some of their own food (some of them already do, or used to).

Solar panels save energy and MONEY. Prisoners don’t make minimum wage, they would get paid little to do this, saving even MORE MONEY. And since when does a Conservative care about the homeless? I thought they were all "lazy, welfare receiving, crack addict bums" living off of hard-working people like you. So I guess you’d rather he spends that money providing homes for them through "unnecessary social programs". Make up your mind…..better yet, get one first.

It demonstrate that 0bowma will not stop until he and his factions brake the back of the American Economy and turn America into a third world country. But then what did those that voted for a socialist to become the leader of the free world expect? It appears that some Americans have grown accustom to the fact that 0bowma and his bureaucrats have made America the laughing stock of the world. The Russians just proved it, they’ve come to the realization that America is no longer the leader of the free world. Their actions last night demonstrated it. Some Americans wanted a socialist as their leader and now they have one, but what of their country, its no longer the America we knew!

I think this is a horrible idea of Obama!
it is nice to see prisoners working but they should not get paid for doing it! how we work and how prisoners work are two absolutely different reasons. when we work, we are putting our time and hard work to earn a living and better our lives, we get payed as a reward for our hard earning and contribute to the economy. no matter if we like the jobs we have or not, we are at least working to make a living and achieve our career goals.
its a different ball game if you are in prison.
if you’re in prison you work to repay the crimes you have done with out any pay and right the wrong you have inflicted on the victims of your crimes. its a punishment for the prisoner and that prisoner will have to do community service to let the community know who you are and what your crimes were.
what Obama is doing makes no sense at all!
you will have to break the law if you want a job and earn a living while we law abiding citizens are loosing our jobs and being punished like a prisoner should be punished. he is rewarding bad behavior and punishing good behavior. we abide the laws because we don’t want to be punished and we are promoting good behavior but we are being punished instead of rewarded for that good behavior. I’m very angry at Obama
